Karen Wright-Chisolm, the 7th child of eleven children born to the late Benjamin (Bone) Wright, and the Late Adell Meyers Wright both of Charleston, S.C. Karen graduated from Burke High School in 1973. Karen is a Retired Veteran with over 27 years of service from the United States Air Force, as a Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank only obtained by 1% of the force and a retired Civil Service employee.Karen is noted as being the first black/first female to serve as Superintendent of the 315th MSSCharleston Air Force Base. Chief Chisolm’s last 4 years on Active Duty was served at the Pentagon.

Karen is married to Paul Chisolm, Jr., parentsof four children, Tamara Brown, Eric Brown, Jr., Paul Chisolm, III and Jazmine Wright-Chisolm; grandparents of Shaquille, Nakearah, Traequan, Destiny, Sanaa, Caleb (Deceased), William, andRhyanne Heavenly Grace; great-grandparents of Sebastian, Ariah, and Amira.Karen loves God and family. Karen’s favorite scripture is Proverbs 3: 5-6; “Trust in the Lordwith all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledgehim, and he shall direct thy paths.” Her motto is: “Never Underestimate the Power of SomeoneElse’s Struggles, Unless You Have Walked in their Shoes.”
